77 Squadron (Esse Potius Quam Videri). Halifax aircraft DT 807 was shot down over Wernswig, Germany during night operations to Kassel, Germany. There were two 77 Sqdn. aircraft lost in the same area on this date. Sergeants J.F.A. Bailey (RAF), J.P. Belfield (RAF), J.B. Birrell (RAF), W.A. Bryson (RAF), H.E. Cracknell (RAF), D.H. Douglas (RAF), A. Miller (RAF), C.E. Tarbin (RAF), R. Wilson (RAF), and Pilot Officer A.T. Parker (RAF) were also killed. Please see FS C.J.C. The squadron was based at Elvington, the RAF members of the crew of aircraft DT 807-R who were also killed were Sgt.s 1-I.E. Cracknell, W.A. Bryson, C.E. Tarbin, and A. Miller, RAF Sgt.s R.
