77 Squadron (Esse Potius Quam Videri). Halifax aircraft JD 125 failed to return from a night trip to Milan, Italy. Six of the crew, not Canadians, missing believed killed. Warrant Officer Class II Air Gunner Dufton has no known grave, his name is inscribed on the Runnymede War Memorial, Englefield Green, Egham, Surrey, England.
Addendum: - Aircraft JD 195-A. The six RAF crew members who were also killed were; W/O. E. J. Clinch, Sgt(s) M. Griffiths, M. Gray, F.J. Gallantree, J.A. Bacon, and Pilot Officer H.C. Hoyne. Clinch, Hoyne, Gallantree and Dufton are all listed at Runnymede, Griffiths, Gray, and Bacon are all buried in the Verneuil-sur Avree Communal Cemetery, France.
