97 Squadron (Achieve Your Aim), Pathfinder Force. Target - Stuttgart, Germany. Lancaster aircraft JB 312 was in a mid-air collision over the target and returned only to go out of control, due to the damage, and crash just off 5 Runway, Bourn Airfield, England. FSs J.A. Dietman (RAAF), G.W. Wood D.F.M. (RAF), A.J. Newell (RAF), Pilot Officer J.A. Bartholomew D.F.C. (RAF), and Flight Lieutenant R.S. Emerson (RAF) were also killed. Pilot Officer Dickie had been slightly injured on June 28, 1942 when his 115 Squadron Wellington aircraft was damaged by enemy action. addendum 2: See page 181. Changes to the aircrew list.
