299 Squadron (Par Nobile Fratrum) Stirling IV aircraft LJ 814 had an engine fail and crashed on take-off at the aerodrome at RAF Brize Norton, England. Flying Officer DJ Cameron (RCAF) was severely injured and died three days later on March 29,1944, the only air crew member to die in the crash. 299 Sqn was an airborne forces squadron that took part in the D-Day landings, Arnhem, the crossing of the Rhine and the liberation of Oslo. The aircraft was repaired and put back into service.
