Took off from Middleton St. George at 21:37 in Halifax Mk II (Sqn code EY-? Bomber Command0 on an operation to Antwerp, Belgium.

Coned by searchlights in the target area and severely damaged by flak, which wrecked both port engines and wounded several crew members. Attacked by a night fighter, shot down and crashed at 03:10 at Wommelgem, 5 km East of Antwerp.
