18 Squadron (Animo Et Fide). Flying Officer Woodward was seriously injured in an on-duty accident on October 20, 1943 when a truck skidded on a slippery road and overturned two miles east of Grotaglia, on the Brindisi/Tarranto Road. He succumbed to his injuries in November whilst in the General Hospital in Tarranto, Italy.
