1 BSU. Transport ship LST 420, from Tilbury, Essex, England, hit an enemy mine and sank whilst entering the harbour at Ostende. Flying Officer H.D. Durrant, Sergeants W.J. Marshall, A.E. Cooper, and Leading Aircraftman N.F. Ready were also killed. 219 other servicemen, not Canadians, missing believed killed.
