15 Squadron (Aim Sure) RAF Bourne Stirling I aircraft BF 386, on an air test flight with seven aircrew and four passengers, aboard officially to experience air operations. They were were all killed when the aircraft, in a steep diving turn, crashed at Salters Lode, Downham Market, Norfolk, England FS Recchia, Sergeants A. Beswick (RAF), P.D. Head (RAF), W.H. Hood (RNZAF), A.R. McIntosh (RAF), and R.G. Ponting (RAF) Addendum: Cpl. D.S. Cleaver (RAF), S/L. C.G. Fisher (RAF), Sgt.s GS. Barrie (RAF), J. Ling (RAF), and F/L. Salter (RAF) were also killed. Passengers were onboard for air experience, including the Station Padre. Killed were Flight Sergeant E.A. Recchia, Sergeant W.H. Hood RNZAF, Flight Lieutenant H.B. Salter RAF, Sergeant A.R. McIntosh RAF, Sergeant J. Ling RAF, Sergeant P.D. Head RAF, Sergeant A. Beswick RAF, Sergeant C.S. Barrie, padre Squadron Leader C.G. Fisher, Sergeant R.G. Ponting RAF and Cpl D.S. Cleaver RAF.
