1914-11-21: Babington was a member of a three man team that attacked the Zeppelin factory at Friedrichshafen, Germany. He and another officer returned after a flight of more than four hours across hostile country under very bad weather conditions. On 12 January 1945 his name was legally changed to John Tremayne Tremayne. He held the office of High Sheriff of Cornwall
