409 Nighthawk Squadron (Media Nox Meridies Nester). Squadron Leader Hanbury was demonstrating the flying characteristics of a Beaufighter aircraft to Pilot Officer P.M. Sweet and Warrant Officer J.W. Dickson when their Beaufighter T 3142 went into a flat spin at 10,000 feet. Hanbury, Sweet and Dickson were all killed when they crashed at Lexeton, Dutgate, Lincolnshire.
