Fairchild F-24H Argus, RCAF (Serial No. 699). Flown out of Rockcliffe, Ottawa, Ontario from Nov 1940 until she was struck off strength in Dec 1942.
The Fairchild Model 24, also called the Fairchild Model 24 Argus/UC-61 Forwarder or Fairchild Model 24 Argus, is a four-seat, single-engine monoplane light transport aircraft designed by the Fairchild Aviation Corporation in the 1930s. It was adopted by the United States Army Air Corps as UC-61 and also by the Royal Air Force. The Model 24 was itself a development of previous Fairchild models and became a successful civil and military utility aircraft. Wikipedia

Built in 1938. Donated by previous owner, Readers Digest magazine publisher, had been registered as NC20637. Served with No. 12 (Comm) Squadron at RCAF Station Rockcliffe, Ontario. On strength of No. 1 Air Command Communication Flight at Trenton when withdrawn from us on 19 July 1945.
This F24R 4809 is not the same F24R 4809 C-FGZL that is registered to the Canadian Historical Aircraft Assoc. in Windsor. That one is c/n R46-250.
