1958-05-24 - Approximatly 1500 hours two miles south of Lockport, Manitoba, two RAF students, A/P/Os NH May and P Squires, were killed in a head on collision. Two other passengers in the Volkswagon, A/P/Os AB Lockwood and PJ Phillips, were thrown clear. A/Pilot Officer Lockwood suffered severe leg injuries and concussion, while A/Pilot Officer Phillips suffered minor injuries. This accident occurred on a four lane blacktop highway where a small rain squall had just passed. The car went out of control and veered to the left and fish tailed into the path of an oncoming 1957 Buick. The students were proceeding to Winnipeg from Gimli.1958-05-28 - Funeral services were held at 14 Training Group protestant chapel, Winnipeg, Manitoba, for the two RAF students killed in the above accident. Flight Lieutenant GW Yates, the Protestant padre Station Gimli officiated at the funeral service. Burial took place at Brookside Cemetery, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
