It is signed by the late Bill Bryant RAF who was the navigator of that aircraft piloted by Bob Boorman RCAF. The caption reads "This Stars Stripes photograph was taken on 14 September 1944 and shows a Mosquito Mk XIII of 409 Squadron RCAF. John Joseph Malone obtained Royal Aero Club certificate No. 3376 from the Curtiss Flying School at Toronto on 15 July 1916. On that day he was promoted to Flight Sub-Lieutenant. Posted to 3 Naval Squadron on 1917-02-01, he scored 10 victories flying the Sopwith Pup before he was shot down and killed in action 1917-04-30. He was awarded the DSO and was also mentioned in dispatches.
