178 Squadron (lrae Emissarii). The crew of Liberator aircraft EV 961 did not return from dropping containers to the underground in Warsaw, Poland. Lt P.G. Coutts (SAAF), FS H.V. McLanachan (RAF), Sergeants J.E. Porter (RAF), R.H. Scott (RAF), and A. Sharpe (RAF) were also killed. One other member of the crew, not Canadian, missing presumed killed.
