400 City Of Toronto Squadron (Percussuri Vigiles). Flying Officer PW Lochnan (RCAF) was on temporary duty with 225 ASR Sqn in Wales when a Tiger Moth N 6853 was reported down at sea on a local flight. Despite very bad weather Flying Officer Lochan attempted a flight to find the missing aircraft in Lysander IIIA V 9361, but the wind sent the aircraft out of control into a tree just after taking off, Flying Officer Lochnan died of his injuries, his gunner Sergeant Cave (RAF) was seriously injured (various, discussion page, www.rafcommands.com).
