Embarked on a Tactical Reconnaissance Sortie down to Donbiak and Fould Point. While flying over Magychaung, Carmichael was shot down by LMG Fire and crashed.

Miraculously, he survived after being thrown out and rendered unconscious.

Missing believed killed as Pilot Officer Flynn circled the crash area and no sign was visible in Mayu River.

Injured and taken captive by a Japanese Army Unit, Carmichael found the opportunity to slip away on May 5th and after a three day trek, arrived in Allied lines.
