1916-11-21: to be 2nd-Lieutenant, RFC 1918-01-21: Hamilton was badly injured in Camel, B-4620; when it stalled on a left-hand, climbing turn, after momentary engine failure, and then spun into the ground. He returned to active service shortly before the end of the war.
