1918-03-08: Fothergill was injured in RE-8, A-3889 at 64TS, ???; when he got into spin and was unable to recover before hitting the ground. 1918-08-10: posted to 5Sqn., France. 1918-08-20: Fothergill died in RE-8, C-2596; brought down at Warvillers by AA shellfire while on patrol. His observer, Lt George William Hugh Parlee, (Canadian) was also killed.
