1917-06-10: attached 55Sqn, RFC. 1917-07-14: Hanson died in DH-4, A-2150; when his aircraft took a vertical nose-dive, crashed and completely wrecked on a practice flight. His pilot, 2Lt Harold Embleton MacFarlane, (British) was also killed. The two men are buried beside each other, in adjacent graves, at Longueness Cemetery.
