1916-08-03: DesBrisay was missing in FE2b, 4272; when it was shot down in flames by an enemy fighter over Lens while on patrol. His pilot, Lt Kenneth Matthewson (British) was also missing. Both men were later accepted as dead.

Sapper Eric Merrill DesBrisay has no known grave.
