1917-02-04: Coupal was wounded and suffered from shock in FE2b, 7023; when he was shot down in no mans land near Hebuterne while on offensive patrol. His air-gunner, 2Lt Harry Lister Villiers (British) was killed in the attack by an enemy aircraft. 1917-11-00: Coupal was made Captain, A-flight Commander and instructor at winter training quarters at Ft. Worth, Texas.
