1955-02-26 - A private motor car accident occured at the CPR level crossing at the enterance to the town of Gimli, resulting in the death of two airmen. The car driven by a civilian employee of RCAF Station Gimli, was in collision with a moving train at the crossing.

The Station historical record does not list the airmen's names. The Winnipeg Free Press however does list AC Charles Fanning and AC Clarence Bouchie.

Find a Grave does have matching RCAF headstones for a 219671 AC1 Wallace C. Bouchie and a 216694 Leading Aircraftman Charles E. Fanning.
