1918-07-13: Higgins was seriously injured in BE2c, 8422; when he let it get into a flat spin and could not recover before it nose-dive to the ground and caught fire. He later died of his injuries and burns. His instructor, Lt George Powell Armstrong, (Canadian), died later of his injuries.
