Ruffridge was an American citizen who came to Toronto in 1917 to enlist in the RFC. 1918-05-06: Ruffridge was in the second seat when he died in JN-4, C-1333, in a spinning nosedive, when it crashed and caught fire. His student-pilot, Cadet Hugh Baker O'Leary, (Canadian), was also killed.
