1917-06-13: Shearer's Strutter returned from a bombing mission with a hung bomb under the aircraft. While they tried to stabilize it in place, the bomb dropped and exploded. Shearer was injured and died 2 days later. His pilot, Flt. sub-Lieut. Maurice Hugh Stephens (Canadian) was killed.
