Holt was a Lieut. in the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry before transferring to the RFC in 1913. Air Vice Marshal Felton Vesey Holt, was a squadron and wing commander in the RFC-RAF who became a brigadier general in the newly established Royal Air Force (RAF) just before the end of the First World War. He died in a non-military related flying accident at Westhampnett, Sussex, England on 1931-04-23. Holt managed to get out of the aircraft, but his parachute did not open in time.
