1915-11-15: Filley was wounded in Morane, 5080; when it totally smashed on the aerodrome on return from an artillery cooperation mission. His observer-gunner, Lawrence Werner Wyld Lees, (British) was OK. 1916-10-20: Filley was injured in Martynside FK8, A-1561; when it collided with a BE12 in mid-air near Fienvillers, during a bombing run. He was alone in the bomber at the time. 1917-04-10: Filley was made a Squadron Commander from a Flight Commander and a Major whilst so employed.
