Kane was born in 1880 at, County Wexford, Ireland. He never married and he kept the family home in Ireland as his residence. He enlisted in the army in the early 1900s and transferred to the RFC in late 1914. He was killed in a flying accident on 1915-03-22 while at 24 Reserve Aircraft Squadron, Brooklands Aerodrome, Surry. His Bleriot Parasol was caught by a gust of wind which caused it to side slip and nose-dive into the ground.
