Ffield was killed when his Maurice Farman S.7 'Longhorn' No. 909 dived into the ground from 200 feet at RNAS Hendon. He died of his injuries on 24th December 1914, Maurice Farman S.7 Longhorn No. 909 crashed in the UK.
