1914-10-27 Rawson-Shaw went missing on a recce, with his observer, Lt Henry Graham Lambarde Mayne in BE2 No. 469. They went out to do a reconnaissance of Lille in a strong west wind which evolved into gale force and their BE2a could not fly against the strength of the wind. They force-landed and were made PoW, and held at Crefeld in Holland for the rest of the war. He was repatriated on 1919-01-21.

Captain Kenneth Rawson-Shaw has no known grave.
