1914-10-05: Grey and his observer failed to return from a recce near Bapaume. Word came 1914-11-01 that he was in Germany. 'FLIGHT' of 6 November 1914 reported "WORD has now been received that Capt. Robert Boger, R.E., R.F.C. and Capt. Robin Grey are prisoners of war at Torgau" sic Germany. After his release at the end of the war, and a refresher course in flying, he rejoined the RAF as part of the Archangel expeditionary Force. He relinquished his commission and left the RAF on 1919-11-14.
