Neil three crew members on the HP O/400 bomber were posted from Independent Air Force Bomber Group to 97 Bomber Sqn on 1918-09-07. On 1918-11-14 they were posted to the BEF to Russia. On 1918-12-23 they departed the IAF airfield on the Western Front to fly to Russia. Over Bretieul, France, ground fire by Germans breaking the cease fire forced the bomber to land and make repairs. On 1919-02-03, Neil was reduced in rank to Flying officer (no explanation). On 1919-06-21 Neil was slightly wounded by 'enemy fire'. HP O/400 (D9700) crew: Lt. David Neil (Canadian) Lt. Roy Alfred Gunther (Canadian) AM3 Harry Horridge (British) AM Wishart (no record), but his last name shows up on this aircraft.
