Wormull was a Corporal in the London Electrical Engineers, Territorial Force. He was transferred to the RFC 1917-01-19, learned to fly and was the pilot of a Bristol Fighter carrying out wireless testing and experiments at the Wireless Testing Park at Biggin Hill Aerodrome when the aircraft stalled on takeoff on a wireless testing flight to Stamford Aerodrome. Wormull was killed in the crash, the wireless operator, 2nd Lieutenant C. F. Beatty was injured.
