Aircraft severely damaged by anti-aircraft fire. Aircraft made a forced-landing close to the Enemy's lines

After destroying equipment in the aircraft and gathering supplies the crew set off waling to avoud capture. Meeting Arabs, some of whom were helpful they headed for Matruh. By the 28th day they reached Lake Magra and early on the folowing day they were rescued by drivers of two British Army vehicles after covering some 340 miles in hostile territory
