1 BSU. Transport ship LST 420, from Tilbury, Essex, England, hit an enemy mine and sank whilst entering the harbour at Ostende. F/O H.D. Durrant, Sgts W.J. Marshall, A.E. Cooper, and LAC N.F. Ready were also killed. 219 other servicemen, not Canadians, missing believed killed.
