1917-03-12:Simpson was killed in a flying accident while pilot testing BE2e (A2737) with his observer Capt. W.H.A. Whitworth. While making a test circuit around the aerodrome the aircraft stalled on a sharp turn, close to the ground, and crashed injuring Whitworth and killing Simpson.
