1917-02-27: I have been unable to find out if Needs had any previous military experience. His death in this case was a training accident - he was an RFC enlistee. He was undergoing dual Instruction on a Maurice Farman machine when the propeller broke apart. The Sgt-pilot HJ Little died in the crash of the aircraft, Needs was killed by a piece of the propeller.
