26 Radio Detachment, Langara Island. LAC Mitchell was the temporary master of the vessel Seamew and was attempting to navigate from Massett to Langara Island when the motor failed in heavy seas. LAC Mitchell drowned while trying to abandon ship off Cape Edensaw, Queen Charlotte Islands.
