1917-02-01 McRae and his British (Irish) pilot Lt. Percival William Murray, were shot down in a multi-machine dogfight, with the aircraft coming down on the enemy side. Both were severely injured in the crash and died the next day as PoWs. Shot down (19th claim) by Manfred Von Richthofen - 1917-02-01.
