Shot down by a German aircraft. *S.L.* 1917-08-04: McGavin died in DH-4, A-2159; when his bombing formation was attacked by 20 enemy aircraft and he was seen to fall in pieces near Wingles while on a bomb raid to Dorignies aerodrome.
