185 Squadron. P/O McFarlane had been assigned to fly Hurricane aircraft with 186 Squadron and arrived on a transit flight from the United Kingdom at Luqa, Malta on April 19, 1942. He was severely injured when the aerodrome was attacked by enemy bombers as he arrived. He died of these injuries and few days later.
