John Joseph Malone obtained Royal Aero Club certificate No. 3376 from the Curtiss Flying School at Toronto on 15 July 1916. On that day he was promoted to Flight Sub-Lieutenant. Posted to 3 Naval Squadron on 1917-02-01, he scored 10 victories flying the Sopwith Pup before he was shot down and killed in action 1917-04-30. He was awarded the DSO and was also mentioned in dispatches.

Flight Sub-Lieutenant John Joseph 'Jack' Malone has no known grave.
