Cannot find in the Book of Remembrance, *S.L.* 1918-03-03: Hays died in an unidentified Curtiss JN-4a; killed in flying accident, cause unknown. He was in the pilot's seat on this flight under instruction by 2Lt Reginald Martin Joseph Bate, (Canadian) who was in the second seat and was injured in the crash, but recovered. He is buried in the closest CWGC Cemetery to his parents home.
