Attached to the RFC from Central Ontario Regiment - 4th Bn. **S.L.** 1915-12-25: to 16Sqn as observer 1916-01-12: Field died in BE2c, 1712; when it was hit by an enemy AA shell at 4,000 feet over Beaucamps. It side-slipped, dived and burst into flames with two men seen to fall out. He was on an artillery registration mission at Haubourdin, near Lille France . His pilot Lt Edgar Francis Wanklyn Cobbold, (British) also died.
