1918-04-14: Doughty was OK in RE-8, B-5893;when caught by wind and over-turned on take off for contact patrol. His observer, 2Lt John Alfred Raymond Andrews, (British) was also OK. 1918-04-18 (22 minutes later day): Doughty died in RE-8, C-4561; in a spinning nosedive, crashed and caught fire on take off for a contact patrol. His observer, 2Lt Andrews was also killed.
