1915-09-21: Recce mission; Caws (the pilot) was killed in the air and was the first Canadian airman killed in WWI. He has no known grave. His observer Lt. W.H. Sugden-Wilson (British) was wounded but took control of the BE and guided it to the ground where he was made a POW. The German's buried Caws with full military honours, but the grave location has been lost
