From RAF Commands: Circumstances of Death: Died due to asphyxiation (carbon monoxide gas poisoning, self-administered). The inquest into his death was reported in the Gloucester Citizen of August 30th 1943. His body was found in a gas-filled room at a guest house in Kensington, London. The verdict was that he took his life while the balance of his mind was disturbed.
