51 Squadron (Swift And Sure). Halifax aircraft LV 822 lost during a night operation, an attack against Nuremberg, Germany. Seven RAF members of the crew were also killed. There were two 51 Sqdn. aircraft lost in the same area on this date, following is a list of the casualties of both aircraft. Sergeants L.R. Adams (RAF), J.P.G. Binder (RAF), J. Brear, (RAF), J.H. Goskirk (RAF), B.H. Menary (RAF), E.J.P. Monk (RAF), J. Nicholl (RAF), L.H. Wyness (RAF), FS M.M. Stembridge (RAF), F/Os H. Bowling (RAF), W.K. James (RAF), F. Kasher (RAF), and J.B. Marshall (RAF). This was Sergeant Bradshaw's sixth operation and his aircraft was one of 108 Allied aircraft lost this night. Please see Warrant Officer R.H. Wilson for information regarding the other aircraft. addendum2: See page 69. Four RAF crew members Sgt.s L.R. Adams, J. Nicoll, L.H. Wyness, F/0.s W.K. James, J.B. Marshall, and FS. E. Wilkins (RAAF) were also killed.
