26 Operational Training Unit Wellington III BJ879 was practicing night circuits when it hit the station's water tower and crashed 500 yards east of the aerodrome at Little Harwood, England. Sergeant JL Belanger (RCAF), Sergeant CJ Fox (RAF), Sergeant FB McHugh (RAF) and Pilot Officer DEJ Bint DFM (RAF) killed. There is an historic marker now at the crash site (ComanderChuff www.ww2talk.com).
