458 Australia Squadron (We Find and Destroy). Wellington MP702 was on a cross over patrol in the Mediterranean Sea between the Straits of Bonnifacie and south of Elba. Apart from a signal that it had sighted a convoy, nothing further was heard from the aircraft and it failed to return to base after the mission. Caualties included: RCAF W/O II T.E.
